Honoring and uplifting the teachers and staff of St. Johns County’s Title 1 and grant-funded schools through community-supported events and appreciation.

The Hearts for Educators Foundation is dedicated to celebrating and appreciating the teachers and staff in the 12 St. Johns County School District Title 1 schools, along with the 2 grant-funded schools. Through ongoing events and initiatives, the foundation aims to bring encouragement and support to these schools by partnering with local restaurants and businesses for in-kind donations that help make each celebration possible.

Fundraising and Fun!

Meet the Founder

Lyn Wiggins Gabrielsen was born and raised in Georgia, where she knew at the early age of 10 that she wanted to be a teacher! She taught the neighborhood children how to diagram sentences and “graded” her stuffed animals on their appearance and behavior. Yes, she had a real chalkboard and an actual green grading book. She spent four years at Berry College in Rome, GA, and studied English and Education under some of the finest teachers. After graduating in 1988, she began teaching at her alma mater, First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, GA. In 2001, Lyn married Jimmy Gabrielsen and moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and began serving on PTO boards. No longer in the classroom, Lyn channeled her love for teaching by supporting and celebrating the teachers and staff in her children’s schools. Now, after 15 years and three schools later, she has established Hearts for Educators: Celebrating SJCSD Teachers and Staff. Through her work with her children’s PTO’s, Lyn has seen first hand the impact that food and fellowship have on the morale of teachers and staff in our schools. She’s learned that it is incredibly important to support, value, and celebrate these men and women who pour into our children. Lyn’s focus now is on the 12 Title One and 2 grant funded schools in our District. Her goal is to provide as many events as possible for each of these schools through her foundation as well as local restaurants and business in kind donations and support.

Our Mission:

To celebrate and appreciate the teachers and staff in the 12 St. Johns County School District Title 1 schools as well as the 2 grant funded schools.

Our Goal:

To provide as many events as possible for each of these schools through the Hearts For Educators Foundation as well as garnering support from local restaurants and businesses through in-kind donations.

How can you help?

Provide a financial commitment and/or a volunteer role. The proposed budget for 2026, our launch year, is $40,000. This will provide at least 2 events per school for the winter/spring and fall school semesters. There are two options for donations: Zelle and Square. You may also write a check to Hearts For Educators. All donations are tax deductible. Special thanks to our first partner who has committed to 3 years of support, Butler Automotive Group (butlertoyotajacksonville.com)

Heart for Educators, led by Ms. Lyn Gabrielsen, is one of the greatest strengths of our school community. Their unwavering dedication, creativity, and genuine passion for supporting our staff make a remarkable difference every single day. The events they plan are not only meaningful—they are energizing, thoughtful, and deeply aligned with the needs of our school.

Through appreciation initiatives, Heart for Educators consistently brings joy, connection, and a sense of unity to our campus. Their efforts have had a profound impact on staff morale, reminding our teachers that their hard work is seen, valued, and celebrated.

I am incredibly grateful for our partnership with Heart for Educators. Our school is a better, brighter place because of the heart they pour into everything they do.
